Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid and Thomas Tuchel’s Borussia Dortmund fought out an eventful and exciting draw at the Westfalenstadion.

It was a visual treat for football lovers on Tuesday night as Real Madrid and Borrussia Dortmund battled it out for all three points in one of football’s greatest arenas. Raphael Varane, Cristiano Ronaldo, Andre Schurrle and Pierre emerick Aubameyang all got on the scoresheet for their respective teams and ensured that the points were shared on the night.

Real Madrid drew first blood, with Cristiano Ronaldo pouncing on a backheel pass from Gareth Bale to smashit it into the bottom corner, silencing anyone who doubted his form. It was extremely unfortunate from Dortmund’s point of view as they were denied a penalty minutes earlier after the ball made contact with Ronaldo’s outstretched hand in the penalty box.

However, Dortmund got level minutes before the end of the first half after a Keylor Navas howler saw him parry the ball straight at Rafael Varane, allowing a lurking Pierre Emerick Aubameyang to score close range.

Ousmane Dembele received both praise and criticism over the course of the game. The 19-year-old has been a revelation this season for Tomas Tuchel side and he continued his good form today by harassing the Real Madrid defence.

Rafael Varane gave Real Madrid the lead after Karim Benzema’s shot hit the woodwork and parried off into his path of his compatriot.

But Tuchel’s side weren’t to be outdone at home. Second half substitute Andre Schurrle scored an equaliser minutes before full time, with a thunderous left foot strike to put the home side level.
