David Moyes focused on Everton job amid exit links

David Moyes remains focused on overseeing a successful 2026/27 campaign for Everton amid widespread speculation surrounding him.

According to a report by Pete O’Rourke on Football Insider, David Moyes is not exploring other options, even though there have been suggestions that his job is on the line. With the Friedkin Group ready to sell the Merseyside club in the coming months, a change in ownership may lead to a managerial shuffle.

Pete O’Rourke said, “David Moyes, there’s no panic from his side of things. His focus will just be on the team right now and improving results for Everton. I’m sure there will be clubs who are keeping tabs on his situation for if he does become available and no new deal can be agreed at Everton. But look, it’s one of those situations, Moyes is experienced enough to know that until the situation at Everton is resolved, he can continue to give his best for the club.”

David Moyes and his illustrious career

David Moyes has experienced many highs and lows throughout his managerial career. The 63-year-old entered the coaching sphere by taking charge of Preston North End before rising in prominence during his first spell with Everton. However, moving to Manchester United brought a hurricane in his life. The Scot lasted only nine months at Old Trafford, while stints with Real Sociedad and Sunderland also ended miserably.

Moyes finally resurrected his fortunes during his two stints with West Ham United, guiding the East London club to the 2022/23 UEFA Europa Conference League. The Scottish tactician’s latest spell with Everton has also brought promise, even though they finished 13th last season. However, after a bright start to the ongoing campaign, the Toffees have harboured European aspirations this term.

What next?

Despite successive 2-0 defeats over the past ten days, Everton are within touching distance of the top four, and they have the chance to secure qualification to a European competition if they resurrect their form. However, David Moyes is reportedly walking the tightrope amid suggestions of a possible ownership change.

Reports have suggested that the new owners would want to steer the club in a different direction, which puts Moyes’s future in doubt. In the meantime, the Scotsman has seen links with Celtic, with Martin O’Neill facing an uncertain future at the Premiership club.

However, with Moyes focused on successfully executing his plans this season, his long-term future is contingent on the decision taken by the management, provided the ownership situation evolves in the coming months.
