Fabian Hurzeler has overlooked interest from Chelsea and Manchester United to commit his long-term future to Brighton & Hove Albion.
A report by TEAMtalk has revealed that Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in Fabian Hurzeler. The two Premier League giants are scouring the managerial market as they prepare to appoint a permanent head coach in the summer. Additionally, the youngster is a target for Bayer Leverkusen.
However, the three high-profile clubs must look elsewhere for a new head coach, as the Houston-born tactician has committed his long-term future to Brighton & Hove Albion. Hurzeler is happy with his project at the Amex Stadium, and he will remain at the high-flying Premier League club for the foreseeable future.
Fabian Hurzeler and his managerial career so far
Fabian Hurzeler has established himself as one of the best young managers in the Premier League since joining Brighton & Hove Albion from FC St. Pauli in June 2024. Born in Houston, the 33-year-old spent his professional career in Germany, although his time as a footballer was not glamorous, and he hung up his boots in 2022.
The German tactician had already entered the managerial sphere by then, taking charge of FC Pipinsreid between 2016 and 2020 as a player-manager. However, Hurzeler rose in prominence during his spell with FC St. Pauli, enjoying two productive years with the now-Bundesliga club.
As for Hurzeler’s stint with Brighton, he has enjoyed a solid stint at the Amex thus far, and the Seagulls may qualify for a European competition this term. With Brighton eighth in the standings, they can finish as high as sixth, which will yield a spot in next season’s UEFA Europa League. With the young manager making such an impact at the club, it is hardly surprising that bigwigs like Chelsea and Manchester United are vying for his signature.
A man in demand
Chelsea will dip into the market for a new head coach after sacking Liam Rosenior last month. Calum McFarlane has taken interim charge until the end of the 2025/26 season, and the Blues are looking for the ideal long-term appointment. Hurzeler is thus an option worth considering for the West London club.

As for Manchester United, Michael Carrick may retain his spot in the hotseat at Old Trafford after guiding the club back to the UEFA Champions League. However, the Red Devils have kept their options open in their managerial search, and they have had their sights set on Hurzeler.
However, with the 33-year-old German tactician committed to Brighton & Hove Albion, the two Premier League giants must look elsewhere for a managerial appointment. The same goes for Bayer Leverkusen amid uncertainties surrounding Kasper Hjulmand’s long-term future.
