Patrick Dorgu will return to the Manchester United starting lineup against Real Sociedad in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League round of 16 at Old Trafford on Thursday.
Manchester United will aim to reach the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals when they welcome Real Sociedad to Old Trafford for the second leg of the UEFA Europa League round of 16 on Thursday night. Ruben Amorim has greeted a mixed bag of updates on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.
Leny Yoro is the latest absentee after picking up a knee injury this past weekend against Arsenal. The French defender has joined Altay Bayindir (unspecified), Tom Heaton (knock), Luke Shaw (calf), Lisandro Martinez (knee), Harry Maguire (knock), Jonny Evans (lower back), Kobbie Mainoo (muscle), Mason Mount (hamstring), and Amad Diallo (hamstring) on the sidelines.
However, Manuel Ugarte is close to returning, while Mount has resumed training. In addition, Patrick Dorgu is available. However, Chido Obi-Martin is ineligible to take on Real Sociedad, as the Red Devils failed to register him in the UEFA Europa League. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Amorim provided a fitness update on several players.
The Manchester United manager said, “Mason Mount is too soon. Leny [Yoro] is out. Harry Maguire cannot play this one. I hope to have him for Sunday [against his former club Leicester City in the Premier League].”
“Manu [Ugarte] is in the squad and I think there is no-one returning. No, no [Yoro’s absence] is not long term. Leny cannot play this game and the other game [Leicester].”
Andre Onana will take his spot between the sticks, with Manchester United lining up in a 3-4-2-1 formation in front of him against Real Sociedad at Old Trafford on Thursday night. The central defensive unit will feature Victor Lindelof, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui. Meanwhile, there is no looking past Diogo Dalot and Patrick Dorgu as the two wing-backs.
As for the midfield unit, Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes should pair up in the central areas again, with Ugarte, Toby Collyer, and Christian Eriksen being backup options on the bench. Finally, Rasmus Hojlund should lead the line for the home side against Real Sociedad, with Joshua Zirkzee and Alejandro Garnacho completing the numbers in the offensive trifecta.
Predicted Manchester United XI: Onana; Lindelof, de Ligt, Mazraoui; Dalot, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Dorgu; Garnacho, Zirkzee; Hojlund
