Arsenal want Mikel Arteta to commit his long-term future to the club

Arsenal want Mikel Arteta to sign a new deal at the club and prolong his career at the Emirates amid growing interest in the background.

According to TBR, Arsenal are keen to tie down Mikel Arteta to a new deal and secure his future at the Emirates for many years to come. The Gunners are extremely happy with the Spaniard’s performances but remain wary of the growing interest in the background, with Manchester City and Barcelona keen.

Arsenal want new Mikel Arteta contract

Arsenal have taken on a whole new direction under Mikel Arteta, and on current form, they are the second-best team in England. Not only has the Spaniard managed to transform their fortunes on the pitch, but he has also made them a European giant once again, as there are now expectations for the Gunners to win major honours soon.

With that in mind, Arsenal are a formidable force under Arteta, and the hierarchy wants a new deal in place for the Spaniard amid growing interest in his services. Barcelona had been linked before, but for now, they are sticking with Xavi Hernandez.

Similarly, Manchester City had earmarked Arteta as the ideal successor to Pep Guardiola when the Catalan eventually stepped down from his post at the Etihad. With just over 12 months remaining in Arteta’s deal, there’s a significant risk for Arsenal to let him run down his contract, which is why they want him tied down for the long-term future as the head and continue on the current trajectory.

With a new contract, there will be a massive pay rise that must recognise Arteta’s stature within Premier League circles as one of the top managers around. He did get a big bump when he last signed a deal at the end of the 2021-22 season, and he will ideally look for a similar deal with regard to its duration.

Arteta remains committed to Arsenal

As things stand, Arteta is very much committed to Arsenal and the project he has undertaken. Since he last signed his new deal, together with Edu Gaspar, the pair have managed to tie down most of their current first teamers and will be planning on adding more. So far, the Spaniard has been sufficiently backed, and once again, he’s expected to be provided with the necessary funds to strengthen his squad.

The expectation is that Arteta will soon begin talks over a new deal once the season concludes and will look over the trajectory of the club in order to make a decision. He is likely to sign a new contract and continue his progress, as he appears undeterred by the prospect of joining either Manchester City or Barcelona.
