The Premier League champions have started planning for life after Pep Guardiola amid concerns that he might leave in 2025. Meanwhile, the 42-year-old Bayer Leverkusen manager is also a target for Real Madrid and Liverpool.
Xabi Alonso has seen his stock in the managerial world skyrocket in no time. The Spaniard had an illustrious career at the club level, enjoying tremendous success with Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich. He entered the managerial world in 2019 by taking charge of Real Sociedad’s reserve side.
The 42-year-old was with Real Sociedad B for three years before Bayer Leverkusen came calling in the first half of the 2022/23 season. The decision raised a few eyebrows, considering Alonso was a novice in the managerial world. However, he has barely taken any time to vindicate that choice, guiding Bayer Leverkusen to the Bundesliga title this term.
