Barcelona are keen to get ahead of the competition for Ruben Amorim as they fear Liverpool’s big entry in the race.

According to The Independent, Barcelona is keen to get ahead in the Ruben Amorim race, as Liverpool might enter the race in a big way. The 39-year-old Liverpool managerial target has tremendous interest emerging from many corners, with the Catalans reportedly prioritising a move for the Portuguese boss.

Barcelona prioritising Ruben Amorim

Ruben Amorim is steadily becoming a top name on the list of many clubs ahead of the summer. Several sides are looking for a top name to manage their team from next season. Bayern Munich are in the race, while the 39-year-old Liverpool managerial target also features on Barcelona’s list.

Barcelona had been in contact with his camp, although the official word seems quiet as Amorim focuses on finishing the season with Sporting CP. The Catalans will be without a manager as Xavi Hernandez will quit his post after the season, and they are now prioritising a move for the 39-year-old Portuguese boss.

Barcelona are eager to get ahead in the race as they might feel Liverpool’s interest could harm their pursuit. Joan Laporta and Deco will do their best to convince the Portuguese to take their project, and now the issue of a high release clause may have been solved in the background.

The fact that Amorim might be open to joining Liverpool makes it all the more imperative for Barcelona to snatch the 39-year-old Sporting CP man swiftly and under the noses of their rivals. Things could begin accelerating as soon as possible. Amorim could have many offers on his table to choose from, but he might only decide once the season ends.

Liverpool is facing a managerial dilemma

Liverpool had considered Amorim a target but not their priority, as Xabi Alonso was the man they dreamt of. The Spaniard continues to have a brilliant season with Bayer Leverkusen, as they are on the brink of their first Bundesliga title. He recently chose to remain here, which was a blow for the Reds and Bayern Munich.

With Alonso out of the picture, they might consider a move for Amorim, should Barcelona delay anything in their pursuit. Their other alternatives include Brighton’s Robert De Zerbi and Inter Milan’s Simone Inzaghi, although the latter seems out of reach.
