39-year-old Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly open to a move to Liverpool to takeover from Jurgen Klopp.

According to Correio da Manhã via Sport Witness, Liverpool are interested in having Ruben Amorim on their bench starting next season, and the Sporting CP manager is open to a switch to Anfield. But, he is currently focused on the task at hand at the Portuguese club.

Amorim’s rise at Sporting CP

Ruben Amorim took charge of Sporting CP at the start of 2020 and has since done wonders for them. He has transformed them into a winning machine, and they are in the hunt for multiple titles this season. Sporting are leading the race for the league title and have a 2-1 lead heading into the second leg of the Taça de Portugal semi-final against Benfica.

His impressive work at the Portuguese club, and his managerial style have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs from across Europe. Barcelona are one of the clubs that have been linked with the 39-year-old. With Xavi parting ways with the club at the end of the season, the Catalan giants are on the lookout for a new boss, and Amorim is one of the names on their radar.

But, it seems Liverpool have made him their priority target. It has been a while since Jurgen Klopp decided to end his stint at the Merseyside club. With the German manager leaving, the Reds want to bring in a top-quality manager who can maintain the levels reached during Klopp’s time at the club.

Liverpool pushing for the 39-year-old manager

Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso was their top target for the role. But, with the former Liverpool midfielder committing his future to Bayer Leverkusen, Amorim seems to be the favourite for the position at Anfield.

The 39-year-old is aware of the Merseyside club’s interest in his services. But, he is not in any rush to make a decision regarding his future. Amorim wants to focus on finishing the season in the best possible way. He wants to win the league and the cup with the Portuguese club.

The highly-rated manager will wait until the end of the season before deciding his future. Since he is only 39, he still has a lot of time to go on to manage a European giant. However, people close to the manager believe he might not turn down an opportunity to join the Reds and are aware of the fact that he is one of the main candidates for the job.

At Liverpool, Amorim will have the opportunity to challenge for all major titles, and he will have the backing of an amazing fan base. As a result, there is a high possibility that the Barcelona managerial target will make the move after helping Sporting to multiple titles this term.
