Manchester United rival Chelsea for Roberto De Zerbi, Ruben Amorim

Manchester United have entered the chase for Roberto De Zerbi and Ruben Amorim in the summer, with Chelsea also keen on the duo.

Ben Jacobs on Caught Offside insists Manchester United could enter the chase for Ruben Amorim and Roberto De Zerbi as a replacement for Erik ten Hag. Chelsea are also in the hunt for the duo should they choose to part ways with Mauricio Pochettino, as the Liverpool-linked managerial duo are in high demand.

The managerial race in the summer could pick up heat as a host of top clubs are looking for new appointments. While Liverpool is in the market for a new man in the dugout following Jurgen Klopp’s decision to quit, Manchester United and Chelsea could also look for a new leader.

There’s an evolving situation over at Manchester United and Chelsea, as Erik ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino are in danger of losing their jobs in the dugout. Both teams have underperformed this season as their respective boards will seek replacements for their incumbents.

Manchester United are now looking at the Liverpool-linked managerial duo for solutions as the increasing speculation surrounding Ten Hag suggests the Dutchman might exit. Whether they can sign either De Zerbi or Amorim remains the question. However, journalist Ben Jacobs insists they are in the hunt, as he also included Chelsea as suitors for the two promising managers.

Jacobs said, “Erik ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino are in quite similar positions. The aim of both clubs is to judge them at the end of the season, but each manager has an important stretch of games coming up that could prove defining for their futures,” Jacobs said.

“Chelsea’s owners have always planned to judge Pochettino at the end of the season in a two-way appraisal, while Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS want to be fair to Ten Hag and take some time to assess him.

“Chelsea haven’t made any determination on Pochettino yet despite growing fan discontent. In an ideal world, they don’t want to make a change, so nothing is pre-decided. It’s true, however, that the club appreciates Ruben Amorim, Roberto De Zerbi and Xabi Alonso.”

Liverpool in pole position for De Zerbi, Amorim?

Liverpool are the only club among the trio who certainly need a new manager, as their certainty will give them an edge in pursuit of Amorim or De Zerbi. The Reds had earlier wanted Xabi Alonso, but the quest has taken complicated turns in recent weeks, which suggests the Spaniard may be out of reach for now.

Considering their need, they should be in pole position for either De Zerbi or Amorim. Dealing with Brighton would be the most challenging part as they are keen to extend the Italian’s deal, while his current contract does not include a release clause, unlike Amorim’s at Sporting CP.
