According to Football Insider, Ange Postecoglou has reportedly decided to ignore speculation and stay put as Tottenham’s manager. The Australian has been linked with the Liverpool job, with Spurs not keen to entertain any offers coming from the Merseysiders for their 58-year-old
Ange Postecoglou happy at Tottenham
Ange Postecoglou was the third name the media linked with the Liverpool job after Xabi Alonso and Ruben Amorim after Jurgen Klopp’s announcement to quit. The Australian has done a tremendous job at Tottenham since his arrival last summer, with Spurs not interested to part ways.
Postecoglou is reportedly happy at Tottenham and remains keen to carry on with the project thrust on his shoulders. The Liverpool managerial target is also happy with the backing he’s got from Spurs, and despite being a ‘Liverpool fan’, the Australian is prepared to snub any approaches to stay in north London.
Tottenham are also confident of keeping him and will rebuff any big-money compensation bids coming from Liverpool or any other clubs in the summer. Spurs fans are delighted with the transformation Postecoglou has brought to the club and will be disappointed to see him leave so soon.
Postecoglou’s is the most stable managerial appointment Spurs have made since the departure of Mauricio Pochettino nearly four years ago. Hence, Levy will do his utmost to ensure the 58-year-old Australian does not venture out anywhere and stays firm in North London.
Liverpool are looking at different options
While it’s only a report speculating Postecoglou will stay at Tottenham, anything could change in the summer depending on the circumstances. For instance, Postecoglou might feel the need to manage the Champions League side should the Spurs fail to make it to the top four, or he might even stay put and continue with his project.
Meanwhile, Liverpool wanted Xabi Alonso, but he’s unsure about taking over at Anfield. Recently, they have started looking at alternative names and could step up their chase for Ruben Amorim, who also has interest from several other high-profile sides. In all, Liverpool are openly searching for the ideal replacement for Jurgen Klopp, although they might have to strike out Postecoglou’s name from their list.
