Mauricio Pochettino signs Chelsea contract

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has signed the contract to become the next Chelsea boss.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Mauricio Pochettino has signed the contract to become the next Chelsea manager. The former Tottenham manager had a verbal agreement in place with the Blues and has finally put pen to paper.

Pochettino was on the radar of Chelsea ever since they parted ways with Graham Potter. Post the departure of Potter, the Blues appointed club legend Frank Lampard as their caretaker manager until the end of the season.

And, then started the hunt for their new boss. They shortlisted quite a few high-profile managers for the vacant position. And, after multiple meetings with the candidates and internal discussions, they decided Pochettino was the perfect fit for the club.

The 51-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the club. His contract at the club will run until the summer of 2026. An official announcement should follow shortly.

Meanwhile, the 51-year-old was in charge of Paris Saint-Germain from the winter of 2021 to the summer of 2022. He managed them in 84 matches and averaged 2.15 points per game.

Despite having a decent record at PSG, the former Spurs manager couldn’t live up to the lofty expectations and he was shown the exit door.

Meanwhile, he has an exceptional track record while managing in England. The 51-year-old was in charge of Tottenham Hotspur from 2014 to 2019. During this time period, he led them in 293 matches and averaged 1.84 points per game.

While he failed to win any major titles during his time with the London club, Pochettino did surely leave a mark in the Premier League as well as the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are confident that the Argentine manager could do wonders for them as he has a good amount of experience of managing in England.

He will take charge starting next week and will first focus on the transfer business they need to carry out in order to revive the club next season.

The Blues have struggled throughout the season. Despite spending a fortune on signing new players, the results haven’t followed on the pitch. And, the fans will hope that this appointment can turn things around for them.
