Tottenham have added Bayer Leverkusen’s Tim Steidten to their shortlist of new sporting directors as they look to make important appointments.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Tottenham are keen on Tim Steidten to become their new sporting director. The Bayer Leverkusen transfer expert has been responsible for unearthing many Bundesliga gems. Spurs are now keeping close tabs on the German.

Tim Steidten is a man on the rise in European football after his stellar work for Bayer Leverkusen. The 44-year-old has unearthed many notable Bundesliga gems during his time at the club. But he may ponder making a change and taking up a new challenge.

A recent report ran some comments from Steidten as he outlined what his future could hold from here on. As per Transfermarkt, his role as Bayer Leverkusen’s Sports Co-ordinator ended in March. But the Bundesliga club may have him on a longer contract.

Steidten had recently said, “Germany and England are definitely the two leagues that interest me the most. There are already offers, including from the Premier League. Honestly, there’s not that many clubs in the Bundesliga that appeal to me and where I am needed right now.”

Tottenham are now eyeing a move for the 44-year-old transfer guru as they ramp up the search for a new Sporting Director. Spurs recently had to part ways with Fabio Paratici. The Italian got a 30-month worldwide ban from football following his role in the Juventus financial scandal.

Daniel Levy remains keen to find a suitable replacement, and Tottenham have seen links to many notable names. Brentford’s Lee Dykes is a possible option, but there are difficulties in persuading him to join the North Londoners.

They were also linked with Roma’s Tiago Pinto. Reports suggested the Portuguese could bring Paulo Dybala along with him to Tottenham. Steidten emerged on their list of candidates to replace Paratici in the director’s role.

Steidten has been responsible for bringing up many Bundesliga gems. His recruited players include Pierro Hincapie, Amine Adli, Edmond Tapsoba and Jeremie Frimpong. The 44-year-old transfer guru has a keen eye for big, promising talents in the market, and it may suit Tottenham in their quest to build a steady project.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are keen to appoint a new manager at the helm. Feyenoord’s Arne Slot emerged as the leading candidate for the job as talks advance with Spurs. The two positions are key for the club’s future, as one may depend on the other.

As per Florian Plettenberg, Steidten also has interest from two other Premier League clubs. However, he will look at the offers he has on the table before making a firm decision. Tottenham might come across as an exciting project as the size of the north London club could entice the 44-year-old transfer guru.

Tottenham could also keep their options open. They are keen to embark on a solid project that could sustain their place among the elites of the Premier League. For now, their initial objective will point towards returning to the top four next season. Then they will look to continue on a sustained run to play Champions League football every year.
