Chelsea are yet to appoint the permanent replacement for Graham Potter, but Mauricio Pochettino is the favourite for the position.

According to a report from The Athletic, Chelsea hoping to bring in a new manager this week, and Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly the front-runner to secure the job. Frank Lampard is currently the caretaker manager at Stamford Bridge, and the Blues have been in disastrous form under him.

Prior to Lampard’s arrival, Graham Potter had a mediocre season with Chelsea, and the Blues decided to part ways with him. The former Brighton & Hove Albion manager was heavily backed during the January transfer window. Chelsea also spent heavily in the summer transfer window.

However, he failed to get the best out of his players, and Chelsea found themselves in the bottom half of the league table. The Blues have had a very poor campaign, and they will finish the season without a trophy. On top of that, they are set to miss out on Champions League qualification as well.

The report claims that Chelsea hope to finalise the appointment of the next manager. And Mauricio Pochettino is the favourite for the job. The 51-year-old is an experienced Premier League manager and he will be expected to make an immediate impact.

The former PSG boss has proven himself in England with clubs like Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur in the past. He will be hoping to guide Chelsea to major trophies in the coming seasons. There is no doubt that Chelsea have an impressive squad. And a quality manager could turn them into contenders once again.

The 51-year-old Argentine is likely to introduce his high-intensity attacking football at Stamford Bridge, and the Blues certainly have the players to execute that style of play. Chelsea you have invested around €600 million on new signings since the ownership change, and they have plenty of top-quality players at their disposal.

Someone like Pochettino should be able to get the best out of them next season. The Blues have been linked with other managers like Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann in recent weeks as well. However, talks with Pochettino are quite advanced, and the Argentine manager is expected to take over.
