Chelsea initiate discussions with Julian Nagelsmann

Chelsea have opened talks with 35-year-old German coach Julian Nagelsmann regarding the managerial vacancy at the club.

Chelsea are yet to replace Graham Potter permanently, and Frank Lampard has been put in charge of the first team on an interim basis. According to a report from The Times, the Blues have now initiated contact with 35-year-old German manager Julian Nagelsmann with the hope of appointing him by the end of the season.

Nagelsmann is currently without a job after being relieved of his managerial duties by Bayern Munich. It will be interesting to see if the 35-year-old is open to the challenge amid serious interest from Chelsea.

The Bundesliga-winning manager is regarded as one of the best young coaches in Europe, and the opportunity to manage a big club like Chelsea could prove to be an attractive option for him. Furthermore, Chelsea have an exceptional squad at their disposal with an array of young talents. Nagelsmann could help them improve and fulfil their potential at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are expected to strengthen their squad significantly during the summer transfer window as well, and Nagelsmann will be expected to turn them into title contenders once again. It has been a disappointing season for Chelsea so far, and they are currently in the bottom half of the table, despite spending significant sums of money under Graham Potter.

Meanwhile, the report from The Times claims that Julian Nagelsmann is not the only manager on Chelsea’s radar right now. The Blues are keeping tabs on Mauricio Pochettino, Luciano Spalletti, Ruben Amorim and Luis Enrique as well.

Pochettino has proven himself in the Premier League in the past, and it remains to be seen whether the Blues decide to make a move for him. Spalletti and Amorim have done a splendid job at Napoli and Sporting CP, and they could prove to be interesting acquisitions as well.

Meanwhile, Luis Enrique is also out of the job after being relieved of his duties by the Spanish national team. Whoever ends up taking over at Chelsea will have to deal with massive expectations of winning trophies almost immediately because of the transfer outlay in recent months. It remains to be seen whether Nagelsmann is prepared to move to the Premier League at the end of the season.
