Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly the front-runner to replace Carlo Ancelotti at the helm at Real Madrid in the coming months.

A report by Jorge C Picon and Toni Juanmarti has revealed the favourite to be the next Real Madrid manager. And 51-year-old Argentine tactician Mauricio Pochettino is in the pole position to replace Carlo Ancelotti. The latest update has come after Thomas Tuchel’s decision to join Bayern Munich.

One of the hot topics in the managerial world is the race to become the next Real Madrid manager. Carlo Ancelotti is on thin ice amid a frustrating season that might end with Los Blancos failing to win a trophy. And unless he wins the UEFA Champions League, the Italian tactician might not be at the helm at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The reigning La Liga champions have practically conceded defeat to Barcelona in the title race, with the Blaugrana 12 points ahead. And Real Madrid will also have an uphill task in Copa del Rey, with Barcelona holding a 1-0 lead in the semi-finals. So the Champions League is the best route to win a trophy this season.

Meanwhile, Florentino Perez is not sitting idle and has already drawn up a shortlist of candidates to replace Ancelotti. And the said list featured Thomas Tuchel, who has joined Bayern Munich. So Perez has had to identify alternatives to the German tactician, with Mauricio Pochettino being one of the options.

It now looks like the Argentine manager is the favourite to replace Ancelotti at the Bernabeu. With Tuchel joining Bayern Munich, no other candidate is as alluring a prospect as Pochettino. And the 51-year-old is in the pole position to become the next Real Madrid boss.
