Real Madrid might launch the offensive to appoint 35-year-old German manager Julian Nagelsmann as a replacement for Carlo Ancelotti.

According to Alasdair Gold of football.london, Julian Nagelsmann is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions have had the 35-year-old in their sights for a long time. But Los Blancos might have to compete with Tottenham for the former Bayern Munich boss.

Julian Nagelsmann is one of the best young coaches in the world. The German tactician did not enjoy a fruitful time as a footballer, with a knee injury ending his career at 20. So he decided to step into the managerial world, joining the Hoffenheim academy in 2010. And after coaching a few youth teams, he became the first-team boss in 2016.

The 35-year-old went from strength to strength at Hoffenheim, spending three years with the club before joining RB Leipzig. That is where Nagelsmann’s stock skyrocketed. And after two years with Leipzig, he moved to Bayern Munich. The young manager guided Die Roten to the Bundesliga title last term and has also won the DFL-Supercup twice.

But Nagelsmann’s stint with Bayern has ended this week, with Thomas Tuchel replacing him. The decision has sent shockwaves across Europe, considering his stature in the game. But a few clubs are not sitting idle and want to appoint him as their next manager. And Real Madrid and Tottenham are among his prospective suitors.

Real Madrid might part ways with Carlo Ancelotti at the end of the season if they do not win a trophy. And after falling 12 points behind Barcelona, the title race in La Liga seems over. They also have an uphill task of reaching the Copa del Rey. So the UEFA Champions League might be Ancelotti’s best hope. So Nagelsmann is a viable target for Real Madrid.

Interestingly, Real Madrid also considered Thomas Tuchel as Ancelotti’s replacement. Tottenham had also been in the same boat, with Antonio Conte’s situation becoming delicate this week. But with Tuchel now joining Bayern Munich, the north London giants have had to realign their targets. And Tottenham will look to appoint Nagelsmann as Conte’s replacement.

Both clubs need to appoint a top-class manager for different reasons. While Real Madrid will be eager to become an all-conquering team again, Tottenham will look to end the long wait for a trophy. And appointing a young manager like Nagelsmann might be the right move for both outfits.
