Olivier Glasner is the latest name reportedly linked for the Tottenham job as Antonio Conte remains on the brink of a sack.

According to Bild, Tottenham have sounded out to Olivier Glasner to replace Antonio Conte. The Eintracht Frankfurt boss is a highly-rated manager. He has come in demand as Spurs seek an immediate successor to the Italian coach, whose position has become unattainable.

Antonio Conte supposedly had to take Tottenham to another level and bring his winning mentality to the club. The Italian seemed like a match made in heaven for a club desperate to win trophies. Spurs fans got excited at the prospect of the former Inter Milan and Chelsea boss taking the hot seat.

They were not disappointed with the early showings, as Conte steered Tottenham to a top-four finish ahead of bitter rivals Arsenal. A raft of high-profile signings followed in the summer, which at that time, made Tottenham look like real challengers.

After overseeing Tottenham’s best-ever start to a Premier League season, things began to unravel for Conte in north London. And following his astonishing outburst after Spurs’ disappointing draw to Southampton, the writing may be on the wall for Conte, as his tenure could come to an abrupt end.

Conte criticised his players and owner while taking a jibe at Tottenham’s history. He claimed the problem was within the team and the reason why they have not won anything in the last many years. The club hierarchy have not taken to those words kindly, and the Italian could now face the repercussions.

As per the English media, Conte could get the sack during the international break. Tottenham may decide on the next move, as they are already looking at potential replacements. Former boss Mauricio Pochettino remains the favourite to replace the Italian. Meanwhile, Ryan Mason could likely take temporary charge.

Spurs may have to pay a hefty compensation to Conte in case they decide to sack him. Other names like Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim and former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel are also mentioned. And Eintracht Frankfurt’s Olivier Glasner has become the latest name linked with the position. The Austrian, too, faces problems on the Bundesliga side.

The 48-year-old Bundesliga manager recently had a similar interview after Frankfurt’s defeat to Union Berlin. Many consider those antics as a sign he might be open to departing and taking up a new challenge. Spurs might have keenly seen Glasner following his Europa League triumph last season, which was also his first with Frankfurt.

The 48-year-old Bundesliga manager certainly plays with an intensity reminiscent of Conte. But is he the right choice for Spurs? For now, Pochettino remains the overwhelming favourite to replace Conte. Many Tottenham fans are open to re-signing the Argentine coach, but there are chances the decision could backfire for the club.
