Tottenham Hotspur will have to pay £15 million in compensation if they want to sack Antonio Conte before the end of the season.

According to a report by 90min, Tottenham Hotspur will have to pay £15 million in order to sack Antonio Conte. The Italian manager is likely to part ways with the club after their disappointing run in the ongoing season. But, Spurs will have to pay a significant amount if they want him to leave before the end of the season.

Conte took over the reins at Spurs back in the winter of 2021. He has done a decent job at the club since arriving. However, the ongoing season hasn’t gone according to plan for the club.

Spurs were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League recently. They were outclassed by AC Milan in the Round of 16. Prior to their defeat in the UCL, the London club were already out of the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

Tottenham lost to Nottingham Forest in round three of the Carabao Cup, while their run in the FA Cup ended in round five at the hands of Championship side Sheffield United. With them fighting for a top-four spot in the Premier League, their defeat in UCL meant curtains to their title aspirations. And, their 15-year-long trophy drought shall continue.

Conte’s future at the club became uncertain post their defeat against Milan. However, things got worse when they drew against Southampton. Spurs were leading by two goals but ended up on level terms (3-3) after 90 minutes. And, post that Antonio Conte blasted his players as well as the club in an explosive press conference.

His comments in the media interactions didn’t go well with the club. And, they are pondering over sacking the Italian manager whose contract ends in the summer. While Spurs are ready to sack Conte, they are aware of the fact that they will have to pay compensation in order to get it done.

With just a few months left in his contract, the club are uncertain whether to sack in during the international break or let him leave at the end of the season. Meanwhile, the club have started to look for alternatives.

As per the reports, Conte’s contract with the London club has a clause which suggests that they would have to pay him £15 million, the entire sum of his yearly salary if they want to sack him before the end of his deal. As a result, it will be interesting to see whether the London club go ahead and sack him during the break or let his contract run out.

    Just make him report to an empty room at the stadium if he wants to get paid. No contact with the players he unfairly disparaged. No extra compensation. No early return home. Make him suffer. He’s quit his responsibilities with the team.
