Chelsea have reportedly sounded out a three-year, $12 million-a-year contract for Luis Enrique to become their next manager.

According to AS, Chelsea could offer Luis Enrique a three-year, $12 million-a-year contract. The Blues could enter the market for a new manager if they part ways with the beleaguered Graham Potter. He could get the sack if results do not improve between now and the end of the season.

Graham Potter finds himself in troubled waters after a difficult start to life as the Chelsea boss. He arrived at Stamford Bridge with big expectations and to manage an expensively assembled squad. The English manager has failed to get off the mark.

After recent losses to Southampton and Tottenham, the writing may be on the wall for Potter that his job is under intense scrutiny. Chelsea may have written off this season which may see them go trophy-less and finish outside of the Champions League places.

While Chelsea have publicly backed Potter, and the idea of the manager having time prevails, a search for a new manager could already be underway. The Blues remain linked with several top names in the market. Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi, Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Napoli’s Luciano Spalletti are all on their list.

Former Barcelona and UCL winning-manager Luis Enrique is another name under consideration. The Spaniard is currently free after leaving his role as the Spanish national team boss after the World Cup.

He might not want to take up a position midway through the season and could wait until the summer before resuming work. Chelsea are reportedly interested in Enrique and willing to offer him a three-year, $12 million-a-year contract.

While it may seem like a tempting proposal, Enrique is also courted by Atletico Madrid. The Rojiblancos anticipate Diego Simeone’s departure in the summer. They feel Enrique is the ideal candidate to replace the Argentine at the helm.

They also know Chelsea’s growing interest in pursuing the Spanish manager. Hence, a tough race could ensue for Enrique. The Blues could take a firm decision after further evaluating Potter’s performance between now and the end of the season.

Enrique is a former UCL winning-manager and will bring plenty of experience to this Chelsea side. Moreover, co-owner Todd Boehly will remain eager to prise a top-class manager to the Chelsea hot seat, and the Spaniard certainly fits the bill.

  1. Potter should leave now and let the new manager to continue the work now

  2. We rightly need an experience manager to manage this young players please.

  3. Graham Potter has tried his best at Chelsea but Chelsea Football Club is too big for his Ability and coaching crew. We need a Coach like Zidan , Muoruhno or Better still recall Thamos tuchel. We can’t afford to loosing matches without win . it will be a shame for Chelsea football Club to enter relegation in the premier league. thank u

I think we’re completely in our own crisis,so we should exercise patients.
I don’t think any coach can turn Chelsea around for now.

  5. Said says:

Every club will go into transition. Chelsea included. It will take a couple of coaches an a couple of seasons before the club can be stable again. Chelsea fans have to face it like Liverpool’s fan and Man United fans also. They have gone through all this. There will be a few heartbreaks here and there. They can be trophy less a few season. Once a good coach comes in and stamp his authority and be brave enough to handle his prima donna players, thats where the success will come. Be patient even if it takes years. Rome is not built in one day. Just sit back and enjoy the transition.

It was stupid to fire tuchel

I really think the owners put us in this mess. How can you buy a club with such huge money and decide to pick up a manager who has not picked up a single trophy in premier league and in a way comparing Chelsea with Arsenal who in the past 7 years until last year or so picked up shield trophy, and empowered him to handle Chelsea. It is so absurd! They lack football/soccer knowledge. They should have let some of the previous board members be there at least a year and see how things are managed before letting them off. I am sure that the previous administration had run the team like this, they wouldn’t buy or pay the amount they paid. Irrespective of the amount spent in the club, we need to protest against them and they need to listen to the fans and not think because they have spent millions of pounds, they are in the driving seat.

Bring back Thomas Tuchel the fact that he was hired by the former owner doesn’t matter TT did so much for the team

Name one English coach currently in the top 20 best coaches of the world right now. Non & yet Todd went ahead to sign potter when there are world class coaches out there. Even if potter is given 10 years to the Chelsea job, he does not have the pedigree of a top notch coach is the fact.
