Chelsea could jump in the queue for Luis Enrique if they dismiss Graham Potter at the end of the season.

According to Fichajes, Chelsea could be interested in appointing Luis Enrique as their new manager if they decide to part ways with Graham Potter. The current Blues boss has come under increasing scrutiny due to dismal results, as the hierarchy could plan on a new approach.

Luis Enrique remains one of the top managers in world football despite his apparent failure to help Spain in recent years. The Spanish manager left his post as Spanish national team boss after exiting the Qatar World Cup against Morocco.

He could soon feature at a top club and Chelsea are keeping tabs on his situation. The former UCL-winning manager may end up waiting until the summer to take up a new post. The report insists Atletico Madrid are keen on appointing him as Diego Simeone’s successor, but interest from English clubs could pique his ambitions.

Barcelona considered approaching him to replace Xavi Hernandez last year but eventually stuck with the current manager. They could come again if the situation at Camp Nou changes, but Chelsea are also in the chase for Enrique.

Enrique won a treble with Barcelona during the 2015/15 season. He may find himself in the thick of a race to appoint him as some top clubs could chase his signature. Chelsea could make an unpredictable decision in their current position and may be looking to appoint Enrique at the helm.

Current boss Graham Potter only arrived mid-season after the sacking of Former UCL-winning manager Thomas Tuchel. He has failed to revive the club’s fortunes, as they languish in the ninth spot on the Premier League table. If the situation persists, a dismissal is not out of the question.

Enrique is the most high-profile manager available in the market. Considering the amount of money Chelsea have spent in the last two windows, it makes sense for them to appoint a big-name coach at the helm.

Whether Enrique prefers a move to England remains the question, but he would undoubtedly make a side like Chelsea highly competitive again. For now, they might watch over Potter’s performances and see where his ideas lead this current team at the end of the season.
