Chelsea have reportedly been linked with a move for former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane to replace Graham Potter.

A report from Fichajes claims that Chelsea could look to make a move for French manager Zinedine Zidane if they decide to get rid of Graham Potter in the coming months.

Despite significant investment over the last two transfer windows, Chelsea have been extremely underwhelming on the pitch. And they are currently a lowly tenth in the Premier League standings.

A club of Chelsea’s stature is expected to challenge for the Premier League title and qualify for the Champions league. It remains to be seen whether the Blues can secure a top-four finish this season.

If Chelsea miss out on European football, it would not be surprising if the owners decided to sack Graham Potter and bring in a replacement. Potter was highly rated when Chelsea appointed him. But things have not gone according to plan so far. And the west Londoners are considering Zinedine Zidane as a potential replacement.

Zidane has proven himself at Real Madrid over his two spells, and he could be an excellent appointment for the Premier League giants. The Frenchman has won multiple league titles and Champions League trophies during his time at the Spanish club. And he could help Chelsea return to the top of English football.

The fact that Chelsea are armed with a massive transfer watchlist could be an attractive factor for Zidane. The Frenchman has already proven himself as a top-class coach at Real Madrid. And he will be hoping to add to that legacy by succeeding in the Premier League now.

Meanwhile, the French manager has been linked with clubs like Paris Saint-Germain in recent months as well. It will be interesting to see if Zidane decides to turn down the opportunity to manage a French club in favour of a move to Stamford Bridge.

PSG have been desperate to win the Champions League trophy in recent seasons. And Zidane could be tempted to end their wait for a premier European trophy in the near future. He has also been linked with the French national team job. And it remains to be seen where he ends up eventually.

Chelsea have been quite inconsistent this season. And they will need to improve immensely in order to close in on the top-four over the next few weeks. The lack of a reliable goalscorer has been their undoing this season. Meanwhile, the Blues have also shown interest in other former UCL-winning managers, including Luis Enrique.
