Andrew Robertson and Harvey Elliott will return when Liverpool and Nottingham Forest face off at the City Ground on Saturday.

Liverpool will look to continue the recent winning run when they lock horns with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday afternoon. And Jurgen Klopp will continue to be without several first-team regulars ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

The Liverpool boss has been sweating over the fitness of Darwin Nunez, who sustained a minor hamstring injury earlier this week against West Ham United. But the Uruguayan striker should be fit enough to feature in the matchday squad against Nottingham Forest.

But Ibrahima Konate (knock), Joel Matip (calf), Naby Keita (thigh), Arthur (hamstring), Luis Diaz (knee), and Diogo Jota (calf) remain on the sidelines. Klopp did not reveal much in his pre-match press conference, but he did speak about Nunez.

“We have some players we need to have a closer look at again to see if we can bring them in again from the beginning or bring on. It’s really a short turnaround because we play tomorrow at 12.30, so we will see. I will wait for the last minute pretty much to make my final decisions.”

“There are no ‘injuries’, but knocks here and there and I will get further information later today. [Nunez] is one of the cases where we need to have a look because he was not injured, but he felt something and I don’t know if he feels that still today and what the medical department tells me then, we have to see.”

Nunez should start on the bench against Nottingham Forest, with Klopp unlikely to take a chance on the Uruguayan striker amid an injury crisis. So Mohamed Salah should feature up front for Liverpool, forming the strike partnership with Roberto Firmino.

Harvey Elliott should take up Salah’s vacated spot on the right flank, with Fabio Carvalho retaining his place on the left wing. Meanwhile, Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara should pair up in the middle of the park. So Jordan Henderson will be an option on the bench for Liverpool.

Joe Gomez will continue to pair up with Virgil van Dijk at the heart of the Liverpool defence in Konate’s absence. And Andrew Robertson should replace Kostas Tsimikas, despite a solid outing by the Greek defender against West Ham. Trent Alexander-Arnold will complete the defensive unit, with Alisson Becker lining up between the sticks.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, van Dijk, Robertson; Elliott, Fabinho, Thiago, Carvalho; Salah, Firmino
