Interest from London clubs in Borna Sosa is on the rise, with the versatile left-back now featuring on the radars of Arsenal and Tottenham.

According to Christian Falk, Tottenham and Arsenal are chasing versatile left-back Borna Sosa, who was also on Chelsea’s radar in the January transfer window. The VfB Stuttgart defender could leave in the summer if offers from the Premier League arrive.

Borna Sosa has been making a name for himself in the Bundesliga with Stuttgart in the last 18 months. Having played regularly in the previous term, the left-back has featured in 18 league games this season. While the team is not performing to the expected standards, the defender has certainly caught the eye of Premier League clubs.

Chelsea were reportedly keen on signing the defender in the January transfer window, as Thomas Tuchel wanted to bring in a cover for the injured Ben Chilwell. Sosa’s ability to play as a full-back or a wing-back on the left flank made him an ideal player for Thomas Tuchel’s liking.

Chelsea were vying to cut short Emerson Palmieri’s loan at Lyon, so they pushed their luck by not signing a replacement for Chilwell. Eventually, the Italian full-back remained at the French club, while the Blues ended the window without bringing in a new backup.

It is unclear if Chelsea will reignite their interest in the Croat in the summer, as they may look for a more accomplished option if needed. However, Arsenal and Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing him, with Sosa’s qualities appealing to the north London clubs.

Sosa’s ability to play in multiple positions on the left flank adds value to how Mikel Arteta might approach next season at Arsenal. In January, the manager demonstrated a willingness to play a 4-3-3 over his preferred style in the absence of key midfielders, and the formation that could suit Sosa.

While they have ample options in Kieran Tierney and Nuno Tavares over at left-back, Sosa might be considered as a better quality backup  than the latter, while his versatile nature would make him a handy squad player. He might be the replacement they seek for Sead Kolasinac, who left the club in the January transfer window.

Elsewhere at Tottenham, Antonio Conte remains unconvinced over his left-back options, as only Sergio Reguilon is considered a sure starter. With Real Madrid already considering re-signing the Spaniard, Sosa could replace him next season. The Croat could be an upgrade on Ryan Sessegnon, who has played at a sub-par level this term.

Stuttgart are in a dire state in the Bundesliga, and if they get relegated, players such as Sosa could be available at an affordable price. However, as things stand, a move to either of these three London clubs seems doubtful, although he could be a valuable squad player in all three teams.
