Real Madrid and Chelsea have reportedly been handed a major boost in pursuit of Aurelien Tchouameni, with Juventus ceding pursuit of the 21-year-old.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Real Madrid and Chelsea have been given an easier run at Aurelien Tchouameni. That is because Juventus have pulled out of the race to sign the 21-year-old French midfielder from AS Monaco, as Dusan Vlahovic is their priority target.

Aurelien Tchouameni joined AS Monaco from Bordeaux in January 2020 and has since established himself as one of the best midfielders in Ligue 1. His progress has also enabled the youngster to break into the French national side, and he played a key role in their UEFA Nations League triumph two months ago.

At Monaco, the 21-year-old has made 67 appearances for the principality club, chipping in with five goals and four assists in the process. His exploits for the Monegasque outfit has not gone unnoticed, with Tchouameni popping up on the radars of some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Real Madrid, Chelsea and Juventus.

The interest from Real Madrid is understandable, considering there is no viable alternative to Casemiro in the first-team squad. With the Brazilian set to turn 30 soon and linked with several big clubs across Europe, Real Madrid will need to sign someone like Tchouameni.

On the other hand, Chelsea need to lay down a succession plan for N’Golo Kante, who has been hampered by too many injuries lately. As a result, Tchouameni is viewed as a viable target by the Blues, who are reportedly looking to sign him in the January transfer window, if possible.

Meanwhile, Juventus bolstered their midfield unit in the summer transfer window by signing Manuel Locatelli. However, Adrien Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey are facing uncertain futures at the Allianz Stadium, which would explain why the Bianconeri would want to sign Tchouameni.

The Serie A giants are prioritising a move for Dusan Vlahovic, though, and might not have enough funds to sign Tchouameni. So, Real Madrid and Chelsea appear to have a clearer run at the 21-year-old, and it remains to be seen if either club makes a move for him. It has been suggested that the Frenchman prefers Real Madrid over Chelsea, so it will be interesting to see what the future holds for him.
