Barcelona have reportedly been told to pay €20 million to sign 25-year-old Uruguayan midfielder Mauro Arambarri from fellow La Liga side Getafe.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Barcelona now know how much they will have to shell out to secure the services of Mauro Arambarri before the summer transfer window slams shut. Getafe are demanding €20 million for the 25-year-old Uruguyan midfielder.

Mauro Arambarri joined Getafe from Boston River in the summer of 2018 and has to establish himself as one of the more consistent midfielder on show in La Liga. To date, the player has turned out 145 times for the Madrilean club while chipping in with six goals and as many assists along the way.

His progress over the last three years has certainly not gone unnoticed, with some of the biggest clubs in Europe starting to set their sights on him. Manchester United were briefly linked with Arambarri, who has most recently been on the radar of Barcelona.

Barcelona are expected to be one of the busier clubs in Europe on Deadline Day, as they look to offload several unwanted players while also trying to bring in a couple of new additions to the first-team squad. To that end, the Blaugrana are set to sell Ilaix Moriba to RB Leipzig while Miralem Pjanic could also depart Camp Nou soon.

As a result, it is clear why signing a new midfielder is on Barcelona’s agenda, with Arambarri one of the players they are believed to be following. His €20 million price tag, though, could have proven to be problematic for the Catalan giants in some other time.

However, with Emerson Royal set to join Tottenham in a €30 million deal, coupled with the fact that Moriba’s sale will help Barcelona recoup around €20 million means Arambarri is within Barcelona’s means. However, the priority remains sales over anything else.

With that in mind, it remains to be seen if Barcelona can quickly move the pieces around before making their approach for Arambarri. What will also be interesting to see is if they are willing to meet the €20 million valuation imposed by fellow La Liga club Getafe to sign the 25-year-old Uruguayan midfielder.

  1. Well, this is not outrightly a bad move. But, I would have preferred Pelegrinni from Roma. The one thing I wish the most is;
    Let Griezmann, Dembele, Lenglet, Umtiti and Braithwaite leave!!!

  2. Unknown T says:

    True let those who don’t give a 100 go, but why Braithwaite?
