Manchester United have reportedly emerged as the surprise front-runners for Kamaldeen Sulemana, who was tipped to join Ajax.

De Telegraaf journalist Mike Verweij has given Manchester United an unlikely boost in pursuit of Kamaldeen Sulemana, as reported by Soccer News. The FC Nordsjaelland whizkid was in Amsterdam to secure a move to Ajax, but the move appears to have stalled after his inspection was postponed until this past Saturday.

Verweij further speculates that Ajax might have to brace themselves for tough news ahead, especially with Sulemana’s agent being fully aware of his client’s other options in Manchester United. The commission for player agents is also significantly higher in England, giving Sulemana’s agents an ideal incentive to find him a move to Old Trafford instead.

It remains unknown whether Sulemana himself would want to prefer a move to Manchester United, but this recent event is certainly welcome news for the Red Devils, as they look to hijack the deal for the Nordsjaelland playmaker.

A product of the Right to Dream academy in his native Ghana, Sulemana has enjoyed unprecedented success since his move to Norway in February 2020. He has already established himself as a first-team regular for Nordsjaelland, notching 48 competitive appearances for the club.

A left-winger by trade, the 19-year-old’s tally of 14 goals and eight assists have turned a few heads not only in Norway but across Europe. The interest from Manchester United is, therefore, a testament to the success he has at Nordsjaelland so far.

In addition to his contributions to the Superligaen, Sulemana bags a lot of potential as well. He is, in fact, regarded as one of the best young players to come out of Ghana in recent years, thus putting Manchester United and Ajax on red alert.

The Red Devils, in particular, have gambled on young attackers a lot since the appointment of Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer. Manchester United have indeed brought in talents like Daniel James, Facundo Pellistri, Amad Diallo and are tipped to complete the deal to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

Manchester United are also believed to be interested in the services of PAOK Salonika winger Christos Tzolis, hinting at Solskjaer’s plan to build his new-look attack around young attackers.

Unfortunately, Manchester United could face disappointment in the end in pursuit of Sulemana. Despite the recent complications with his negotiations with Ajax, the winger will undoubtedly favour a move to Amsterdam as he is good friends with Mohammed Kudus. They stem from the same academy and have even played together at Nordsjaelland for a short period of time last year.
