Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly interested in bringing Timo Werner from Chelsea to Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Timo Werner has emerged as a key target for Carlo Ancelotti heading into the summer transfer window. The Real Madrid manager wants to raid Chelsea for the German forward, who could be available for an affordable price.
Werner arrived at Chelsea from RB Leipzig last summer in a big-money deal, with a lot of hype surrounding him at the time of the transfer. However, 2020/21 ended up being one to forget for the 25-year-old forward, even though he finished the campaign with 12 goals and 15 assists – by far the most direct contributions to a goal for the Blues.
In particular, it was his output in front of goal that left a lot to be desired, with Chelsea now looking to sign a top-class striker for a second successive summer – the likes of Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku, and Erling Haaland have all been linked. Werner’s stock, though, has not fallen seemingly, with Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti looking to sign him.
Carlo Ancelotti is back at the helm at Real Madrid ahead of the 2021/22 season, and he could likely raid some of his former clubs for his key targets this summer. To that end, Real Madrid have been linked with Richarlison, Hirving Lozano and James Rodriguez, among others.
The former Chelsea boss has now turned his attention towards the Blues, with Werner popping up on his radar. The interest in the German forward is hardly surprising, though, considering he still has his best years well ahead of him and is adept at playing across the attacking line.
If he does manage to put on his scoring boots once again, Werner could potentially be a game-changing signing for Real Madrid. The report adds that Los Blancos could stand a chance of signing the 25-year-old, with Chelsea unlikely to demand an astronomical figure in his exchange.
Apart from Werner, Ancelotti has also requested the signing of Houssem Aouar, and it remains to be seen if the Merengues deliver him his preferred targets. But, for now, it looks like Chelsea forward Werner could be the subject of interest from Real Madrid this summer.
