Manchester City are reportedly among the clubs that have joined the race to sign Spanish international Adama Traore, who is also a target for FC Barcelona.

According to a report by Spanish outlet El Gol Digital, Barcelona are no longer alone in the hunt for Adama Traore. The likes of Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Juventus are also interested in the 25-year-old Spanish international, who could leave Wolves in the summer transfer window.

Traore has stepped up considerably since joining Wolverhampton Wanderers from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2018. The Spanish winger, who is a graduate of Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy, had struggled to make an impact upon leaving the Blaugrana in 2015, but the move to Wolves has panned out well for him.

The 25-year-old has played a big role in bringing the Midlands club closer to European football in the last three years. 2020/21, though, has been a difficult campaign for both Traore and Wolves, who are currently 12th in the Premier League and unlikely to finish in the top half, while the player has just 3 goals and 3 assists in 38 appearances. But, his stock remains high, with Barcelona among those interested in him.

Barcelona are in the market for attacking reinforcements this summer, although their attention is largely focused on forwards who can play centrally, such as Donyell Malen, Memphis Depay and Harry Kane, among others. Indeed, with Ronald Koeman favouring a 3-5-2 formation for much of 2021, wingers have become redundant for the Catalan giants lately.

As a result, Francisco Trincao is among those facing an uncertain future at Camp Nou, while Ousmane Dembele could also be on his way out in the summer. Traore, though, could be an option for the right wing-back slot for Barcelona, seeing as that is a role he has reprised while at Wolves.

Barcelona, though, now face stiff competition from Manchester City in the race to sign the 25-year-old Spanish international, with the interest from the Premier League champions-elect not really unfounded either, considering Raheem Sterling’s future at the Etihad is up in the air.

Apart from Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Juventus are also providing Barcelona some stiff competition in pursuit of Traore, who could leave Wolves this coming summer. Having said that, it will be interesting to see which among the quartet of European heavyweights end up swooping him away from the Molineux ahead of the 2021/22 season.
