Manchester City have reportedly joined Manchester United in the race to sign Jack Grealish, who is valued at £70 million by Aston Villa.

According to a report by Daily Star, Manchester City have joined the pursuit of Jack Grealish over a possible move in the January transfer window. The English international, who have been slapped with a £70 million price tag by Aston Villa, is also a target for Manchester United.

Jack Grealish has become one of the hottest properties in world following an emphatic return to the Premier League with Aston Villa. Last season, the 25-year-old was the single-most influential figure as the Villans avoided relegation by the skin of their teeth; and, Grealish has raised the bar further at the onset of the current campaign.

So far in 2020/21, the English international has a remarkable return of 5 goals and 6 assists in just 8 appearances across all competitions, playing a key role in Villa’s rise up to 6th on the Premier League table. His exploits have invariably piqued the interest of the bigwigs once again, with Manchester United and Manchester City showing an interest.

Manchester United were famously linked with a summer move to sign Grealish before they chose to secure the services of Donny van de Beek instead. The Red Devils, though, have made a poor start to the season and have, at times, been in need of some inspiration in attack.

Having said that, with van de Beek being backup to Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford nailing down the spot on the left flank, it is hard to see how Manchester United will be able to fit Grealish in the side despite his irresistible form. Manchester City, on the other hand, could offer the 25-year-old a solution at the Etihad.

On paper, Pep Guardiola has a plethora of attacking options at his disposal, with Raheem Sterling the talisman in the final third. However, Sergio Aguero’s injury woes have forced the Manchester City boss to often deploy Sterling centrally, meaning a spot on the left wing is up for grabs quite regularly. Grealish could even be an option as a no. 8 playing alongside Kevin De Bruyne.

So, while Manchester United are reportedly still in the hunt for the Aston Villa captain, it is Manchester City who could fancy their chances of snapping him up. To that end, the Citizens are plotting a January move to bolster their attack and give Liverpool a run for their money in the title race.

The English international has a £70 million price tag and it is reported that Manchester City are set to launch the offensive this winter. What will now be interesting to see is if Manchester United respond to the interest from their local rivals and make a splash for Grealish as well. If not, we could see the 25-year-old make his way to the Etihad in January.

I think this is the same mistake Man U made in Halland before he finally moved to Borusian Dortmund.
Grealish is a player that can fit in any department of the midfield, haviing watched him in his club and the national team. A coach with technical knowhow shouldn’t contemplate of where to play a player of Grealish caliber.
Man U shouldn’t waste time to bring Jack Grealish to Old Trafford come January.
