Burnley and Vitesse Arnhem are interested in signing Chelsea youngster Conor Gallagher on a loan deal in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by The Sun, Chelsea starlet Conor Gallagher is on the radars of a couple of European clubs. Burnley and Vitesse Arnhem are eyeing a loan move in the summer transfer window for the 20-year-old midfielder, who is currently on loan at Swansea City.

Conor Gallagher joined Chelsea as an eight-year-old and has since made massive strides in the club’s youth setup. Widely regarded as one of the best midfield prospects to have emanated from the Blues’ academy in recent years, the 20-year-old broke into the first-team setup last season, when he featured on the bench in the Europa League final, but is yet to make his senior bow.

This season, Gallagher has been out on loan, spending the first half of the season with Charlton Athletic before joining Swansea City in the January transfer window. Oozing class in the middle of the park, the Chelsea loanee had 6 goals and 4 assists in 26 outings for Charlton, and has provided 5 assists in 10 appearances for Swansea.

The player’s exploits have invariably caught the eye of several clubs, especially in the wake of comparisons being drawn with Chelsea legend and current manager Frank Lampard. Ahead of the summer transfer window, Burnley and Vitesse Arnhem are interested in the Englishman.

Burnley do appear to be a bit lightweight in the midfield department, despite the arrival of Josh Brownhill in the January transfer window. In fact, beyond first-choice duo Jack Cork and Ashley Westwood, there is very little quality, as far as central midfield is concerned.

Therefore, the continued interest in Gallagher does make sense, with Burnley also previously linked with the 20-year-old ahead of the January transfer window. As for Vitesse, the Dutch club have a long-standing relationship with Chelsea, who have sent player after player to GelreDome in the past.

Both Burnley and Vitesse want Gallagher on loan in the summer transfer window instead of making a permanent move for the English midfielder. Guaranteed game time, though, will be key in the final decision and it remains to be seen if another temporary move away from Chelsea sees the light of the day.
