Cesc Fabregas has claimed that Harry Kane should leave Tottenham to join a “big club” in the wake of his sensational start at the 2018 FIFA World Cup

As reported by The Sun, Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has aimed a sensational dig by Tottenham by claiming that Harry Kane is ready for “a big club” and should leave Tottenham. The England captain has been heavily linked with Real Madrid, but recently signed a new six-year deal with Spurs.

Kane has seen his stock skyrocket over the last few seasons to now be regarded as one of the best players in the world. The 24-year-old has been the single most pivotal player for Tottenham in the last three terms, wherein they have established themselves as genuine contenders for the Premier League title while also growing in stature in Europe.

As far as his own personal records are concerned, Kane won the Golden Boot in two of the last three seasons while only narrowly missing out on a three-peat in 2017-18. The Tottenham striker was also the top scorer across Europe in 2017, beating the likes of Lionel Messi, Robert Lewandowski and Cristiano Ronaldo to the honour.

His advent at the club level with Tottenham has also translated in international football, where he has become the captain of the England National Team. But, the rise in stature has also been accompanied by attention from some of the best clubs in the world, chief among which are reportedly Real Madrid.

Los Blancos did win the UEFA Champions League for the third successive season, but suffered from a glaring problem all through the campaign, as Karim Benzema’s slump in form continued. With Julen Lopetegui taking charge of Real Madrid upon the departure of Zinedine Zidane, it is believed that a striker is a priority.

Kane would be a viable target for Real Madrid, where he can also regularly contest for titles in a more effective manner. And, Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has stoked the fire by aiming a dig at Tottenham while saying that the star striker is now ready for “a big club”, while opining for BBC after England’s 6-1 win over Panama.

The Chelsea midfielder said: “Harry Kane is probably the best striker in the Premier League. I think he’s now ready to go to a big club.”

Fabregas isn’t the first person to talk about Kane leaving Tottenham or joining Real Madrid, with the likes of Roman Pavlyuchenko, Arsene Wenger and Paul Merson among those who have opined on similar lines. With the 24-year-old one of the most prolific players in the game, speculation is unlikely to end anytime soon.

However, Kane recently committed his future to Tottenham by signing a new six-year contract, and it looks highly unlikely that he will leave Spurs this summer, be it for Real Madrid or any other club. For now, his focus is on the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where he is currently the top scorer, and leading the new-look England side.
