Tottenham star Harry Kane a shock target for Manchester United and Chelsea after breakdown in contract talks

Premier League giants Manchester United and Chelsea are looking to capitalise on the breakdown in contract talks between Tottenham Hotspur and their star striker Harry Kane.

In an exclusive report, English newspaper The Sun have sensationally claimed that Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are planning an audacious swoop for Tottenham’s talismanic striker Harry Kane, after contracts talks between the two parties reportedly reached an impasse.

The report suggests that Harry Kane is demanding a deal similar to what his international teammates like Jamie Vardy, Theo Walcott and Daniel Sturridge earn at their respective clubs. Spurs are refusing to meet this demand and are not even willing to make him one of the club’s highest earners.

Summer signing Moussa Sissoko is reported to be on a £95,000-a-week contract, while Harry Kane’s current deal earns him around £30,000 fewer per week than the French midfielder. This has led to a feeling around White Hart Lane that Kane’s loyalty is being tested.

Harry Kane has been on the wishlist of the two Manchester teams and Chelsea for some time, and these clubs are said to be waiting to capitalise on the forward’s situation should he not sign a new contract with the North London club.

The English hit-man has established himself as one of Premier League’s most feared forwards ever since his breakthrough year in 2014. His numbers speak for themselves: 21 goals in 34 matches in 2014/15, followed by 25 goals in 38 appearances in 2015/16, which earned him the Premier League Golden boot for the season at the tender age of 22.

The Englishman is arguably the most crucial member of Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs setup, underlined by the fact that the team could only score on 7 occasions in 6 league matches that Harry Kane missed due to his recent ankle injury. As such, the Tottenham supporters and the manager must be desperately hoping a agreement between the player and the club is reached very soon.
