Manchester City are reportedly preparing a £20m bid come January to bring seemingly out-of-favour Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Etihad.

The Sun have broken the story that Manchester City are eyeing a sensational move to bring Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas to the blue half of Manchester. The Citizens are plotting a £20m bid in January, which they feel would be enough to secure a transfer for the out-favour Spaniard.

Cesc Fabregas came to Chelsea after a spell back at boyhood club Barcelona in Spain and received flak from Arsenal supporters for joining their crosstown rivals. The midfielder set the Premier League ablaze in his debut season with the Blues under Jose Mourinho, who is now the manager of Manchester United, with 18 assists to his name while also contributing with 3 goals in the Premier League.

The second season was mediocre for both the player and the club and Antonio Conte’s appointment as Chelsea boss before the start of the current campaign seems to have pushed the La Masia product to the fringes of the first-team setup. The player has impressed in the chances he has been given, including the match-winning performance against Leicester City in the EFL Cup in a quick-fire double in Extra time.

The 29 year-old has played only 87 minutes of Premier League football this season out of a possible 720. Cesc has been regularly linked with a move to Italy with AC Milan the reported front-runners but the reports have since been quashed by AC Milan boss and Fabregas’ wife, Daniella Semaan.

But, The Sun have now sensationally reported that Guardiola is eyeing a reunion with Fabregas, who played under the current City boss at Barcelona. The Citizens have now gone four games without a win with reports of rift between Guardiola and Sergio Aguero.

Fabregas will not warrant much time in slotting in and feeling at home under Guardiola’s tutelage having worked under him at Barcelona.

Fabregas would add to the creativity of the squad and would also present an option in case Guardiola decides to deploy the False 9 formation. The report has also added that Manchester City are more than happy to match and even improve Fabregas’ £160k per-week current deal.

The Spaniard is also reported to be eyeing a move to the MLS in a distant future and the City hierarchy are also prepared to offer the player a future move off to their MLS franchise New York City FC when the player does decide to call time on his Premier League career.

Fabregas will not feature in the match against Manchester United on Sunday after a slight injury and given the current lack of first-team football, the Spaniard could decide to switch clubs and work under former boss Pep Guardiola, who could do with a few known additions to his squad.
