Chelsea announced the signing of goalkeeper Eduardo Carvalho from Dinamo Zagreb on a one year deal and the announcement did not bode well with a lot of the fans, given the current defensive situation at the club.

The 33-year-old has plied his trade in Braga, Genoa, Benfica and Dinamo Zagreb prior to his move to Chelsea, making over 291 appearances over the course of a career spanning nearly 10 years. The Portuguese international is no stranger to trophies, having won titles in Portugal, Croatia and this summer he was a part of his nation’s European Championship winning squad in France.

With the presence of Thibaut Courtois and Asmir Begovic at the club, keepers of extremely high calibre and experienced in the Premier League, fans were less than pleased that the club had failed to sign adequate defensive reinforcements with only a few days left in the transfer window.
