Swansea City moved one step closer to safety at the cost of struggling defending champions Chelsea, with a 1-0 win at the Liberty stadium.

The Swans’ star midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson proved to be the difference against Chelsea. The Icelandic footballer latched on to a loose ball in the penalty area, after some superb work form Jefferson Montero on the left wing, and smashed it past Asmir Begovic to score the only goal of the game.

Chelsea looked woefully off the mark throughout the match and the latest defeat heaps further misery on the Blues. Chelsea remain in 10th place, while the Swans have the reached the magic number of 40 points that guarantees their stay in the Premier League for another season.
