Chelsea and Barcelona are both keen on signing Bournemouth full-back Daniel Munoz ahead of the new season.
Chelsea and Barcelona are eyeing Daniel Munoz as a right-back target after the Colombian impressed in the Premier League for Crystal Palace, though prising him away from Selhurst Park will be difficult. According to El Universal, both European giants are evaluating a move for the experienced right-back.
Munoz has significantly enhanced his reputation over the past year. The 30-year-old was one of Crystal Palace’s standout performers during a memorable season that saw the Eagles lift the UEFA Conference League trophy.
His attacking contribution from the right flank proved invaluable, as he registered five goals and four assists in all competitions while consistently delivering energetic displays at both ends of the pitch. Those performances have inevitably attracted attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
European duo could battle it out for Munoz
Barcelona are believed to be assessing right-back options as they seek greater depth and tactical flexibility. The Catalan giants have tracked Munoz before and reignited their pursuit this summer.
Their interest also stems from the uncertainty surrounding Jules Kounde’s future. While the French defender remains an important player, the Catalan giants are reportedly willing to consider offers. As a result, they are looking for an attack-minded right-back who can provide competition, offer tactical flexibility, and potentially step into a bigger role if Kounde departs.
Meanwhile, Chelsea continue to search for greater reliability on the right side of defence, especially given Reece James’ recurring injury problems over recent seasons. The Blues have the financial resources to pursue a deal, though convincing the Eagles to negotiate remains a substantial challenge.
The Colombian is under contract until 2028, meaning the South London club are under no pressure to entertain offers. Reports suggest Palace would only consider selling if a substantial bid arrived, with the club determined to protect one of their most influential players following his exceptional campaign.
While both clubs admire Munoz’s qualities, none are expected to find negotiations straightforward. Palace know they possess one of the Premier League’s most complete attacking full-backs and will demand a premium fee before even considering a sale.
