Predicted Chelsea lineup against Tottenham Hotspur: Neto to return; Colwill gets some rest

Pedro Neto will return to the Chelsea starting lineup when they host Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

Chelsea will be eager to return to winning ways when they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night. Calum McFarlane has a new injury concern to worry about ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Joao Pedro sustained a leg injury in the FA Cup final against Manchester City and faces a late fitness test to determine his availability. Additionally, Jesse Derry (head), Estevao Willian (hamstring), and Jamie Gittens (thigh) remain in the treatment room, while Mykhailo Mudryk continues serving his suspension after failing a dope test over a year ago.

However, McFarlane is monitoring Levi Colwill’s fitness, as the young English defender may need some rest. During his pre-match press conference, the English tactician provided a fitness update on Colwill and stressed the need to manage his minutes.

Chelsea’s interim head coach said, “We need to be careful with Levi. He’s obviously off the back of a very serious injury and has performed well in those two games. We’ll see how he looks today, how he reports, and we’ll make a decision on that. It’s been great to have him back, great for English football as well.”

“I think we’ve got a really talented, really high-potential player here. Injuries are a part of it, and he’s shown really good mental strength and character to come through that and perform away at Anfield and in an FA Cup final. So we’re really, really excited about Levi and he’s added a lot to the team, not just on the pitch, but off the pitch as well. It’s been a brilliant two games for him, and hopefully, he can finish the season strongly.”

Robert Sanchez will retain his spot between the sticks, with Chelsea lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday. The backline will feature Malo Gusto, Wesley Fofana, Jorrel Hato, and Marc Cucurella.

As for the midfield unit, Reece James will pair up with Moises Caicedo in the double pivot, with Enzo Fernandez reprising the no. 10 role. Finally, Joao Pedro will lead the line for the home side if he is fit and available, with Cole Palmer and Pedro Neto completing the numbers in the offensive unit.

Predicted Chelsea XI: Sanchez; Gusto, Fofana, Hato, Cucurella; James, Caicedo; Palmer, Enzo Fernandez, Neto; Joao Pedro
