Liverpool will reportedly compete with Chelsea to sign 23-year-old French international Michael Olise from Bayern Munich next summer.
According to a report by BILD, as relayed by Sport Witness, Michael Olise is the subject of interest from Liverpool. The Reds are eager to bolster their offensive unit by signing a versatile wide attacker next summer amid uncertainties surrounding Mohamed Salah’s long-term future. So, the 23-year-old Bayern Munich mainstay has emerged as a target for the Merseyside outfit.
Recent reports have claimed that the Egyptian international will depart from Anfield next summer by moving to the Saudi Pro League. So, Liverpool will pursue Olise, with the Frenchman being a “serious” target for the Premier League champions. While the youngster’s €12 million-a-year wages will not pose an issue to Liverpool, they face stiff competition from Chelsea.
Michael Olise and his Bayern Munich career so far
Michael Olise has established himself as one of the best players in the Bundesliga since joining Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace last year. The London-born winger was already among the finest attackers in the Premier League during his spell with Crystal Palace. However, he has raised his performances by several levels since the 2024/25 season.
The French international has made significant progress in the past year, making over 50 appearances thus far for Bayern Munich and chipping in with 25 goals and 29 assists. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with Chelsea and Liverpool among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into next summer’s transfer window.
Premier League return on the horizon?
Chelsea’s interest in Michael Olise is understandable. The Blues are scouring the market for a productive attacker despite signing Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens in the summer transfer window. So, the former Crystal Palace mainstay has emerged as a viable target for Chelsea.
As for Liverpool, the Reds are in a spot of bother over Mohamed Salah’s long-term future. Even though the Egyptian international has signed a new contract with the Merseyside outfit, he may depart from Anfield next summer. So, Liverpool must plan for life after Salah, with Olise emerging as a viable target for the Premier League champions.
However, while the Reds are “serious” about signing the 23-year-old French international and can afford his €12 million-a-year wages, it will not be straightforward to land the Bayern Munich mainstay next year. Olise is a pivotal figure for the Bavarian outfit, and Liverpool will face a tall order to secure his services as Salah’s long-term replacement.
