Chelsea set to block Tosin Adarabioyo exit amid West Ham United links

Chelsea will not sanction the departure of Tosin Adarabioyo in the January transfer window, thus dealing a blow to West Ham United.

According to a report by Football Insider, Tosin Adarabioyo is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are scouring the market for a centre-back heading into the January transfer window and have set their sights on the Chelsea defender. However, the Blues do not want to part ways with the former English youth international next month.

Tosin Adarabioyo and his Chelsea frustrations

Tosin Adarabioyo joined Chelsea in a Bosman move in the summer transfer window after running down his contract with Fulham. The first summer arrival for the West London club, the Englishman signed a four-year contract with £120,000-a-week wages while becoming a part of a crowded defensive unit.

The 27-year-old has struggled for game time thus far this season, managing only 803 minutes of action across 11 appearances in all competitions while chipping in with one goal. Adarabioyo is behind Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, Axel Disasi, and Benoit Badiashile in the pecking order.

The situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. However, another move across London might be on the cards for the English defender, with West Ham United among his prospective suitors heading into the January transfer window.

West Ham interested in Adarabioyo

West Ham United’s interest in Tosin Adarabioyo is understandable. While Jean-Clair Todibo has gradually grown in stature at the East London club, Julen Lopetegui’s team has struggled at the back throughout the first half of the 2024/25 season. So, it is hardly surprising that the Spanish tactician wants West Ham to sign another centre-back in the January transfer window.

Adarabioyo has thus emerged as a viable target for West Ham, considering his vast Premier League experience. The 27-year-old Englishman is also well-settled in London. In addition, the Hammers have the funds to afford his £120,000-a-week wages. However, Chelsea will not sanction his departure in the January transfer window.

With Fofana out with a hamstring injury for several weeks, the Blues do not want to lose a centre-back in the January transfer window. So, Adarabioyo will remain at Stamford Bridge until the end of the 2024/25 season, with Chelsea unwilling to part ways with the English defender next month.
