Manchester United and Arsenal are reportedly interested in Brian Brobbey, with Ajax demanding around £30 million to sell the 22-year-old Dutchman this summer.
According to a report by The Sun, Brian Brobbey is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Ajax striker is also a target for Arsenal in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the Dutchman has a price tag of £30 million, and he wants to move to the Premier League ahead of the 2024/25 season.
Brian Brobbey and his topsy-turvy career
Brian Brobbey has come leaps and bounds since returning to Ajax from RB Leipzig in 2022. A native of Amsterdam, the Dutch striker began his youth career at AFC Amsterdam before joining Ajax in 2010 as an eight-year-old. He rose in prominence after breaking into the first-team squad at Ajax before RB Leipzig came calling in July 2021.
However, the move to RB Leipzig did not yield the desired results, as the 22-year-old struggled to make his mark at the Red Bull Arena. Ajax re-signed him on loan in January 2022 before completing a permanent move in the subsequent summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Brobbey was excellent in the 2023/24 season as Ajax recovered from a slow start to finish fifth in the Eredivisie standings.
The Dutchman amassed 22 goals and 12 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions. Meanwhile, Brian Brobbey’s exploits for Ajax have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. A move to the Premier League might be on the cards, with Arsenal and Manchester United vying for his signature.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Arsenal’s interest in Brian Brobbey is understandable. The Gunners have been scouring the market for a striker heading into the summer transfer window after Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah struggled to make their mark in the 2023/24 season. The Dutchman has thus emerged as a viable target for Arsenal.
As for Manchester United, the Red Devils are also keen on signing a striker in the summer transfer window after losing Anthony Martial as a free agent. Brobbey features on their radar and will not cost a bomb, with Ajax demanding around £30 million to part ways with the Dutch striker.
Arsenal and Manchester United should have a decent chance of securing Brian Brobbey’s services, as he wants to move to the Premier League. It will be interesting to see if he joins a top-flight club in a deal worth £30 million this summer.
