La Liga club Atletico Madrid will demand around €50 million to sell 20-year-old Spanish youth international Samu Omorodion, a target for Chelsea.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Samu Omorodion is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The West London club recently failed with a bid worth €40 million to sign the Spanish youth international. Meanwhile, La Liga club Atletico Madrid will demand around €50 million to part ways with him in the summer transfer window.
The Samu Omorodion tale
Samu Omorodion has established himself as one of the best young attacking prospects in La Liga after a successful loan spell with Deportivo Alaves in the 2023/24 season. A native of Melilla, the Spaniard has been with Atletico Madrid since last summer, arriving from Granada CF. Los Rojiblancos immediately loaned him to Alaves.
The 20-year-old was not too prolific but managed a decent tally of nine goals and one assist in only 2,066 minutes of game time across 36 appearances in all competitions. Meanwhile, Omorodion’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe.
Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen on signing the Spanish youth international, with recent reports linking him with well-known outfits like Arsenal and Tottenham. While the young striker’s next destination might be London, Chelsea might be his most serious suitor heading into the summer transfer window.
London beckons?
Chelsea’s interest in Samu Omorodion is understandable. The Blues are keen on signing a striker in the summer transfer window after Nicolas Jackson blew hot and cold in the 2023/24 season. Marc Guiu might thus bolster the Chelsea attack, although they want another centre-forward to bolster the offensive department.
The Blues have already failed with a bid worth €40 million to secure Samu Omorodion’s services. However, they are reportedly ready to submit an improved offer to sign the 20-year-old Spanish youth international. Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid will demand around €50 million to part ways with the youngster amid his links with Chelsea.
It will be interesting to see if the Blues are ready to cough up €50 million to sign an unproven striker in the summer transfer window. However, Omorodion is a viable target to bolster Chelsea’s frontline in the coming weeks.
