PSG keen on Bernardo Silva, player wants Barcelona move

PSG will reportedly look to sign 88-cap Portuguese international Bernardo Silva from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by French outlet Le Parisien, Bernardo Silva is the subject of interest from Paris Saint-Germain. The Ligue 1 champions hold a long-standing interest in the Manchester City playmaker and want to sign him in the summer transfer window. However, a separate update by SPORT has suggested that the 88-cap Portuguese international has his heart set on joining FC Barcelona.

Bernardo Silva and his rise

Bernardo Silva has been one of the best playmakers in the world for over half a dozen years. A graduate of Benfica’s fabled youth division, he rose in prominence during his stint with AS Monaco. The 29-year-old played a leading role in the principality club winning the Ligue 1 title ahead of Paris Saint-Germain in the 2016/17 season.

The vultures came calling and ripped that AS Monaco squad apart, with Silva joining Manchester City in July 2017. The Portuguese international, who has turned out 88 times for his national side, has been an excellent performer for Manchester City in the last seven years. While there have been times he has been a frustrated figure, the player has become a mainstay for Pep Guardiola in recent seasons.

The former AS Monaco playmaker has turned out nearly 350 times thus far for Manchester City, chipping in with 66 goals and 61 assists. However, Silva’s stint with the Premier League giants will likely end in the summer transfer window, as he wants to embark on a new adventure. Such a situation has captured the attention of Barcelona and PSG.

A man in demand

PSG’s interest in Bernardo Silva is understandable. The 88-cap Portuguese international is a versatile playmaker who can reprise a role on the right flank and through the central areas. So, he can be a game-changer for PSG in the coming years. And Les Parisiens will look to prise him away from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

As for Barcelona, the reigning La Liga champions hold a long-standing interest in the 29-year-old midfielder. With his valuation dropping to £50 million due to a release clause, a summer move might be on the cards. And a report by SPORT has suggested that Silva has his heart set on joining Barcelona.

With Silva keen on joining Barcelona, the only thing that can pave the way for the Portuguese international to join PSG. So, it will be interesting to see if the Blaugrana can fund the move for the Manchester City attacker.
