Evan Ferguson has endured a topsy-turvy ride thus far in the 2023/24 season. The 19-year-old spent most of his formative years in his homeland before arriving in the Premier League by joining Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2021. Since then, he has come leaps and bounds.
But the teenage prospect has endured a frustrating and sub-par campaign. The Irish striker started the 2023/24 season well, scoring four goals in as many Premier League games, including a hat-trick against Newcastle United. But Ferguson has added only two more strikes since then, illustrating his struggles.
Ferguson’s record of six goals and two goals in 36 appearances across all competitions does not inspire much confidence. However, the Republic of Ireland international has shown his potential, compelling many Premier League bigwigs to set their sights on him. That poses a problem for Manchester United due to the recent struggles to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.
