Arsenal are plotting a serious move for Evan Ferguson in the summer as Mikel Arteta has set sights on signing a top striker.

According to Football Insider, Arsenal have set sights on Evan Ferguson as one of their striker targets for the summer, as club insiders regard him as a considerable talent. Other top clubs are also chasing the Republic of Ireland international, which could make the chase for the forward much more interesting in the next window.

Arsenal are keen on Evan Ferguson

Only a few months ago, there was a massive cry from Arsenal fans and pundits urging Mikel Arteta to sign a top draw No.9 in the January window. The idea stemmed from their need for more efficiency in front of goal and that they needed a proper striker to mount a title challenge.

Fast forward to the Newcastle United victory as Arsenal have scored an astonishing 25 goals in six games this calendar year and are currently the Premier League’s second-highest goalscorers this season. So now the question is whether they need a new striker to shore up their ranks, and the answer is yes.

Arteta may view the need as having something other than something to do with a lack of goals but rather bringing someone to elevate their quality in the final third. Now, they are linked with Evan Ferguson, as the Gunners have kept tabs on him alongside many other top Premier League sides.

Manchester City are also keen, and now insiders at Arsenal consider the 19-year-old Premier League attacker a considerable talent with an enormous future potential. The Gunners might explore a move, with Brighton likely to slap a huge asking price on the young forward with six goals this season, including a hat-trick against Newcastle United.

Ferguson not the only striker target for Arsenal

For months, Arsenal have seen heavy links to Ivan Toney, suggesting that the Brentford star fits their mould perfectly. However, there are complications in signing the England international with the Bees, which is likely to slap a considerable asking price.

Similarly, there are links to Victor Osimhen, and here, too, the problem of a considerable asking price will prevail. Hence, Arsenal might consider spending a hefty fee on a player with a vast future upside, and this is where the club thinks Ferguson will fit in.

I think that including Ivan Ferguson would be a smart move by Arsenal for multiple reasons: But the question is, will he be able to handle the pressures of a big club like Arsenal?
