Manchester City have identified Evan Ferguson as a potential replacement for Erling Haaland should he make a shock departure.

According to Fichajes, Evan Ferguson is being considered as an option to replace Erling Haaland should the Norwegian make a shock departure. Manchester City are eager to stay prepared in the market if unpredictability strikes next summer, with the 19-year-old Brighton star a target now.

Manchester City joins Evan Ferguson’s chase.

Evan Ferguson has already made a massive impact in a short space of time with some glowing performances for Brighton. The Irish international is already considered the next big star to leave the Seagulls, who are, for now, confident of keeping him at the club.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have already considered future moves, while Chelsea are also viewing him as an alternative to Victor Osimhen. Such has been the 19-year-old’s rise in stature over the past year as he looks ahead to a bright future in football. Newcastle United have also been looking at the Irish star ever since he scored a stellar hattrick against them earlier in the season.

Now, Manchester City have reportedly entered the race for Ferguson, as the club views him as a potential replacement for star striker Erling Haaland. Ferguson has plenty of time on his hands, and if a club like that of Pep Guardiola’s comes into the mix, then it will make life harder for Brighton to keep hold of the 19-year-old.

Manchester City does not necessarily envisage a shock departure for Haaland but would like to stay prepared in case an unpredictable move materialises next summer. They might have other options as well, but if they choose to join the race for Ferguson, then Brighton will undoubtedly demand a top fee in return.

Erling Haaland to leave Manchester City?

Would the Whioch club not like to have Erling Haaland in their squad? No side is going to say no if an opportunity presents itself, but the financial implication of signing the Norwegian narrows the choices down to probably a few.

Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are the current contenders for the Norwegian, who might leave Manchester City for a new challenge, having won everything here. Real Madrid, in particular, appears to be the favourite as they consider Haaland as an alternative to Kylian Mbappe.

Haaland is open to joining Real Madrid if an opportunity comes by, with unconfirmed reports suggesting his Manchester City contract consists of a relatively modest release clause for clubs outside of England. Hence, Manchester City are keeping their eyes open to the probability of their star man leaving and, in turn, looking at replacement options such as Ferguson.
