Manchester City are all set to battle it out with Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid for the services of Jarrad Branthwaite.
According to a report by Daily Mail, Manchester City are looking to further bolster their squad ahead of next season, and they are interested in acquiring the services of Jarrad Branthwaite. The 21-year-old centre-back has made quite a name for himself and clubs from across Europe are keen on his signatures.
Everton might be battling for survival because of the points deduction they were handed earluer this season. But, Branthwaite has still managed to impress one and all with his performances in the heart of the defence.
After an impressive loan spell at PSV Eindhoven last season, he has managed to break into the Everton first team. He has already established himself in their team, and his performances have put him on the radar of some of the biggest clubs.
The Merseyside club would love to have the 21-year-old in their ranks for another season. But, that seems unlikely given the amount of interest in him. However, with over three years left on his deal, Everton will only sanction his departure for over £60 million.
Manchester City keen on Jarrad Branthwaite
Manchester City are one of the clubs keen on having him in their ranks. The treble winners have no shortage of top-quality centre-backs in their ranks. It is quite clear by the fact that they forked out £77 million last summer to sign Josko Gvardiol, and he is yet to cement his position in the team.
Despite adding Gvardiol last summer, they still have the Everton defensive sensation in their team as they want to keep the competition for a spot in the team as high as possible. Branthwaite is homegrown, he is young and has quite a lot of similarities with John Stones. Manchester City consider him to be a perfect fit for them, and they could make a move in the summer.
Manchester United, Tottenham, Real Madrid to compete with City
Manchester United will have to battle it out with Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid. United are keen on defensive reinforcement. They want a young prospect, and Branthwaite is one of their targets but his price tag could be a major hurdle. The Red Devils do not want to overpay for anyone, they want value for their money.
Los Blancos are interested in him, and they have been monitoring him. But, the 21-year-old doesn’t seem to be their priority. Even Tottenham could challenge City as Ange Postecoglou is keen on further bolstering his squad. However, they might not have the financial strength to battle it out with Pep Guardiola’s team.
