Chelsea ready to pay €130 million for Victor Osimhen

Chelsea are ready to break the bank and pay a club-record fee of €130 million to sign Arsenal target Victor Osimhen.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via Football Italia, Chelsea are willing to shatter their club-record to sign Victor Osimhen. The Blues want to sign a star striker in the summer and they are going after the signatures of the Napoli ace. They are willing to trigger his release clause worth €130 million.

Osimhen’s recent interview with CBS has made him the talk of the town as it seems he is already quite clear about what he is doing next. The 25-year-old Nigerian striker has already made a decision regarding his future. He is all set to part ways with the Italian club and he dreams of playing for the Blues in the Premier League.

The Napoli striker has gone from strength to strength since arriving in Naples back in the summer of 2020. He is now amongst the best forwards in the world and he did prove his worth last year when he helped the Italian giants end their three-decade-long wait for the league title.

His future was the talk of the town throughout the summer but he ended up staying. The 25-year-old penned down a new deal towards the end of last year and extended his stay until 2026. But, the player and his representatives made sure they got a release clause in his deal in order to secure his move to the Premier League next summer.

His deal has a clause worth €130 million and Chelsea are willing to trigger it. The Blues have struggled in front of goal at times and they do feel the need for a new world-class striker as it will help them take the next step. While they are willing to do it all and the player dreams of playing for the London club, Arsenal are also interested in him.

The Gunners haven’t been doing any good in front of goal. Mikel Arteta is not happy with the performances of his current forward and is ready to sign a new one in the summer. But, they might not have the kind of financial strength that Chelsea have at this stage.

His interview might have come as a shock to Napoli but it seems it has put things in motion for an exit in the summer. With the Blues willing to trigger his release and ready to offer him a lucrative deal, it will be interesting to see if they succeed in signing one of the best forwards out there.
