Armando Broja considering Chelsea exit

Armando Broja could consider leaving Chelsea in January if the club decides to bring a new centre-forward to shore up the attack.

According to The Telegraph, Armando Broja could consider an exit from Chelsea in January if they end up signing a new striker. The 22-year-old homegrown prospect is already a second-choice centre-forward behind Nicolas Jackson and does not want to fall in the pecking order any further.

Will Armando Broja to leave Chelsea?

The Albanian striker is regarded as one of the brightest centre-forward prospects coming out of the Chelsea academy. He has had his time to prove himself on the pitch, but injuries over the last 18 months have restricted his development and the chance to grow with the team.

The 22-year-old homegrown prospect remains one of the sellable assets for Chelsea, who want £30 million from suitors to entertain offers. Broja may seem like a dispensable player in this expensively assembled Blues squad.

Chelsea will likely look for a new striker in January. Viktor Gyokeres remains a target, while there are links to Ivan Toney, among others. As per the report, if the Blues end up bringing a new centre-forward, then the 22-year-old homegrown prospect could consider his options.

He’s already the second-choice striker behind Nicolas Jackson. Mauricio Pochettino has afforded Broja enough opportunities, including five starts in the Premier League, yielding one goal. Hence, if a new forward does arrive, it severely restricts his game time, and with that, Chelsea might feel Broja’s value could drop. Hence, a sale in January would make sense for all parties, but staying could also become an option.

Who else are Chelsea planning on selling?

After spending north of a billion pounds in the last three transfer windows alone, it’s safe to assume Chelsea are walking on a thin line with FFP. The Blues did make considerable sales, and they have plenty of homegrown stars they can still sell and make a total profit.

Those sales could prove pivotal for Chelsea to make big plans in the transfer market. For instance, they are willing to sell Ian Maatsen and Trevoh Chalobah, both of whom are homegrown stars. Others like Noni Madueke could also feature on their shortlist, while there are chances of offloading a few defenders, including Marc Cucurella and Axel Disasi, as per recent reports.
