Romelu Lukaku wants to sign for AS Roma permanently

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is currently on loan at Serie A club AS Roma and wants to join the Giallorossi permanently.

Romelu Lukaku does not have a future at Stamford Bridge, and he needs to sort out a permanent exit from Chelsea at the end of the season. A report from Fichajes has claimed that the 30-year-old wants to join AS Roma permanently during the summer transfer window.

It will be interesting to see if the two clubs can negotiate a reasonable deal for the Belgian international at the end of the season. Lukaku has been outstanding for AS Roma so far, scoring nine goals in 13 appearances across all competitions.

There is no doubt that he is a world-class player on his day and he seems to have regained his confidence and sharpness at the Italian club. The experienced striker’s exploits have also compelled AS Roma to contemplate a permanent transfer.

Chelsea paid a substantial amount of money for him, but he failed to live up to the expectations at Stamford Bridge. The Blues will not be able to recoup that kind of money for him and they need to cut their losses on the player now and move on.

Lukaku will also want to focus on his football and sort out his permanent future. A move to Roma would be ideal for all parties, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Chelsea signed Nicolas Jackson this past summer, and the former Villarreal striker has done reasonably well so far. They need to invest in another reliable goalscorer, and selling Lukaku could bring in the funds for a quality signing.

Meanwhile, Lukaku helped Inter Milan win the league title during his time in Italy, and he will want to win major trophies with AS Roma as well. It remains to be seen whether he can guide the Giallorossi to the Serie A title in the coming seasons.

The Belgian striker is very much at the peak of his powers and could be a key player for Roma in the coming seasons as well. However, the Italian outfit have limited resources and will not be able to afford him unless Chelsea are ready to let him leave on a bargain. The 30-year-old might have to accept modest wages as well.
