Pep Guardiola reportedly wants Manchester City to sign 22-year-old French midfielder Khephren Thuram, valued at €45-50 million by OGC Nice.
According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb, Khephren Thuram is the subject of interest from Manchester City. Pep Guardiola has convinced the Premier League champions to sign the young midfielder. OGC Nice will demand around €45-50 million to part ways with the Frenchman next year.
Khephren Thuram has established himself as one of the best young midfielders in the world in the last few years. The son of legendary French defender Lilian Thuram and the younger brother of Marcus, the 22-year-old is a graduate of AS Monaco’s youth division. But he has found success since joining OGC Nice in July 2019.
The French midfielder has come leaps and bounds in the last four years, becoming a mainstay in the middle of the park for OGC Nice. Thuram has turned out nearly 150 times thus far for the Ligue 1 club, chipping in with eight goals and 11 assists. The youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs.
Widespread reports have linked the Frenchman with Premier League bigwigs like Liverpool. He is also a target for Serie A heavyweights Juventus. But the European giants face stiff competition from treble winners and reigning Premier League and UEFA Champions League holders Manchester City.
Manchester City recently joined the race to secure Thuram’s services. According to claims from the report, the interest comes from Pep Guardiola, who has pushed the Citizens to land the youngster. His versatility might be the reason he is a target for Manchester City, considering Bernardo Silva and Kalvin Phillips face an uncertain future at the Etihad.
Thuram is thus a viable target for Manchester City, who can afford OGC Nice’s asking price of €45-50 million. The report claims that Guardiola has convinced Manchester City to shell out €45-50 million to sign the 22-year-old Frenchman.
Thuram can be a long-term midfield solution for Manchester City, considering his versatility. But with Juventus also keen on signing him, it will be interesting to see where he lands amid widespread interest in his services.
